The ATKV resorts day visitors policy is only applicable to ATKV members!

Although ATKV members enjoy preferential reservation at the resorts, the ATKV’s policy is that the resorts are open to everybody  for accommodation (please note that only ATKV members may book as day visitors). With the arrival of the new dispensation, the ATKV, based on decisions by various congresses, unequivocally resigned itself to this dispensation.

The ATKV sees itself as active role-player in building new structures for the future and becoming an indispensable part of an inclusive South Africa that is acceptable to all parties, including its own members.

Holidaying is one of the activities that are closely related to the recreational component of culture. This is the reason why the ATKV strives to make the holiday experience of the Afrikaans cultural community as pleasant as possible. The holiday pattern is aimed at the family and the focus is on family entertainment, safety, a tranquil holiday environment and holidaymakers that respect and complement each other’s requirements.

To ensure this pleasant holiday experience, our resorts have certain rules, which include:

  • a limited number of day visitors;
  • silence after 23:00
  • no alcohol at the swimming pools
  • a policy of no drunkenness
  • acknowledgement of the human dignity of everyone who visits the resort as paying guest; and
  • no busses with visitors unless prior arrangements were made.

This policy is applied to provide all visitors with an atmosphere in which they can truly relax. This is extended by giving each visitor the chance to experience the environment and everything that is presented as entertainment. Consequently any person or persons who transgress the rules will receive one or two warnings, where after drastic steps will be taken. This kind of behaviour could result in expulsion from the resort.

To make sure that day visitors do not spoil the fun of resident guests, prior arrangements must be made with the resort to be allowed in. This is particularly important during school holidays and on long weekends. Because of the high number of visitors to the recreational facilities on long weekends and in school holidays in April and December, a limited number of vehicles are allowed in the resort. At ATKV Klein-Kariba 50 motorcars per day are allowed, at ATKV Goudini Spa 30 and at ATKV Buffelspoort also 30. Natalia allows no extra visitors during these times due to limited parking space at the resort.

All visitors are treated equally, but only members are entitled to preferential reservation. A main member must be present when such reservation is made and effected. Reservations are made consistently and any person, who does not acknowledge the human dignity of other visitors and object to their presence, will be refunded and requested to leave the resort. Day visitors can visit the resort from 08:00 to 18:00 daily. Reinforced regulations have been introduced to ensure that day visitors adhere to this, unless other arrangements have been made with the resort management.
